Established in 2026 in response to a need for community street patrols.
Two important purposes.
Yom Tov Assistance
The patrol supports the community with practical assistance during Yom Tov, subject to safety, circumstances and personnel availability.
How the patrol operates.
Patrol personnel travel community streets in a visible and identifiable manner.
Patrol personnel observe for incidents and report incidents to police or other appropriate authorities.
We coordinate with police. Chaverim remains independent and does not exercise police powers.
Patrol activity and assistance depend on suitable personnel being available and on conditions being safe.
Rabbinical guidance.
The Chaverim Safety Patrol has received rabbinical approval. Individual circumstances can differ, particularly on Shabbos and Yom Tov. Users must ask their own local Rabbi about the proper procedure for using this service.
